How to get back on track after the holiday season

It’s February already, so I tell myself I should be well back into my routine.

I don’t know what it’s like where you are in the world, but here in New Zealand, it’s the middle of summer and that still makes me want to be in holiday mode. The local children may have gone back to school for the beginning of their new year, but it’s still as hot as Hades.

I always feel sorry for the poor kids going back to school in February, because it’s always now that the heat of summer really starts to hit and they’re stuck in a classroom trying to learn.

However, I digress. How am I doing with my year?

My first quarter of the year is planned (sticky coloured notes all over my wall) but I’m still struggling to knuckle down and get things done that need to be done.

My tips and tricks that I like to share about lists and planners and take it easy on yourself all seem to go out the window when I’m talking about myself.

So what to do (all the basics, really):

Find a few moments to pray and meditate in the morning and connect with my Higher Power;

Ask for guidance and stay still long enough to hear a response;

Ease myself back into my work schedule and make sure that I’m grateful for the things that I tick off my “To Do” list;

Really set aside some self-care time and make sure that I follow through;

Go on that Artist’s date I’ve been promising myself;

Eat well;

Exercise;

Drink lots of water and herbal teas;

Get to bed at a reasonable time. This one’s still tricky, because it’s so hot in the evening I don’t want to eat until much later and to compound the problem, it’s still light quite late. Working on this one!

What do you do to ease yourself back into a New Year?
