Hi, my name is Toni Kenyon and I’m an author and a creative entrepreneur and I’m the founder of Life, Love & Lettuce. I’ve been living a sober, happy and contented life now for almost twenty years. I spend my days practising gratitude and helping other women find their way to a life of happiness and freedom.

My life wasn’t always organised and stress free—my life used to be a hard out-of-control slog. I stopped drinking and expected that magically my life would change.  No-one sent my fairy godmother to wave her magic wand and fix everything.

So, I had a big desire to change my life for the better, I mean that’s why I’d given up drinking—but things weren’t getting any better.

I struggled on, hanging on to my sobriety by my finger tips. I’d hit some kind of a wall and I didn’t know how to get through.

Then I heard something—something that made me sit up and take notice. I heard a woman say, “if you sober up a drunken horse thief, all you’re left with is a sober horse thief”. That day something clicked inside of my head. I was living the same life that I’d been living and the only thing I’d changed was that I’d stopped drinking. All I’d done was take away the aesthetic—the one thing that insulated me from the pain that my own behaviour was causing me. Now I needed to make some real changes. 

Now that I’ve made those changes—my life has blossomed. I live a happy and serene life, doing what I love and I’m surrounded by people who love and respect me.

 

So at this point you’re asking yourself how a single daily practice of organising your day can change your life. I’ll admit I was skeptical too. But I’m the kind of person who won’t take advice until she’s desperate.
